About

About AML Mate

AML Mate turns AUSTRAC's anti-money-laundering guidance into a compliance program a small Australian firm can actually produce and maintain. It is built for the professions brought into the AML/CTF regime by the Tranche 2 reforms, which commenced on 1 July 2026.

What AML Mate does

AUSTRAC publishes over a hundred pages of guidance and a set of starter kits, and says plainly that a business can do this itself. Most small firms have never had a compliance officer, so the work stalls at the blank page. AML Mate is the guided path through it:

  • Generates an AML/CTF program covering Parts A-F from AUSTRAC's own starter-kit templates, tailored by a guided questionnaire.
  • Runs a money-laundering and terrorism-financing risk assessment with deterministic scoring, so the same inputs always produce the same rating.
  • Manages customer due diligence: identity verification, entity verification against the Australian Business Register, beneficial owners, and sanctions and PEP screening.
  • Re-screens existing clients on a risk-based schedule and raises an alert when a client's status changes.
  • Produces the statutory reports — suspicious matter reports and threshold transaction reports — and an audit-ready export pack.
  • Tracks the obligations that recur: staff training, compliance calendar dates, and reviews.

What AML Mate is not

It is an information tool built on AUSTRAC public guidance, not legal or compliance advice, and it does not lodge anything with AUSTRAC on your behalf. We recommend a licensed compliance professional review your AML/CTF program before you rely on it. The full position is in the disclaimer.

Who operates it
