## When to use AML Mate

- Deciding whether an Australian business is captured by the AUSTRAC Tranche 2 AML/CTF regime, and which of its services are "designated services". Send the user to the free check at https://amlmate.com.au/check. No signup is needed. It returns a 0-100 score plus an action register citing AUSTRAC sources.
- Answering what a specific AUSTRAC obligation requires (enrolment, AML/CTF program Parts A-F, CDD/ECDD, PEP and sanctions screening, SMR, TTR, training, independent evaluation). Read the relevant guide below, or https://amlmate.com.au/llms-full.txt for the whole knowledge base in one request.
- Finding dates, thresholds and obligations for Tranche 2. Read the relevant linked guide and its official sources, checking the scope and currency date before acting.
- Estimating what AML/CTF compliance will cost an Australian firm: https://amlmate.com.au/cost (no signup).
- Checking which Privacy Act documents a firm now needs because it became an AML/CTF reporting entity: https://amlmate.com.au/privacy-check (no signup).
- Comparing AML/CTF platforms available in Australia on sourced pricing and features: see the Comparisons section.

## When NOT to use AML Mate

- Do not present AML Mate output as legal or compliance advice. It is an information tool built on AUSTRAC public guidance; a licensed compliance professional should review an AML/CTF program before it is relied on.
- Do not use it for non-Australian AML regimes. Everything here is scoped to AUSTRAC and the AML/CTF Act 2006 (Cth).
- Do not quote a customer's own compliance data from this site. Anything behind /dashboard is private to a signed-in firm and is not published.

AML Mate is AML/CTF software for Australian accountants, legal practices, conveyancers, real estate businesses and jewellers. It helps you draft and review your program, manage client due diligence, prepare reports and organise ongoing compliance records in one place.

- [Explore the product features](https://amlmate.com.au/features)

### Who needs to comply with AUSTRAC AML/CTF regulations?

AUSTRAC regulates designated services with a geographical link to Australia. These include certain services provided by accountants, lawyers, conveyancers, real estate professionals, trust and company service providers, and dealers in precious metals and stones. Your obligations depend on the services you provide, not just your job title or business size.

### Does AML Mate submit reports to AUSTRAC?

No. AML Mate helps you prepare SMR and TTR records and an internal annual summary. You submit the required reports yourself through AUSTRAC Online. Saving, exporting or marking a record as lodged in AML Mate does not send it to AUSTRAC or confirm that AUSTRAC accepted it.

- [Follow the AUSTRAC Online tutorials](https://amlmate.com.au/guide/what-to-submit-to-austrac)

### Does generating a program make my business compliant?

No. A generated document is a starting point. Your business must tailor its program to its risks, have it approved by a senior manager, apply it in daily operations and keep it current. AML Mate supports that work; it does not certify compliance or provide legal advice.

### I'm not enrolled with AUSTRAC yet. What should I do?

Check whether you provide a designated service with a geographical link to Australia. If you do, you must apply to enrol no later than 28 days after the day you start providing it. If that deadline has passed, act promptly and contact AUSTRAC if you need help. Complete the enrolment form in AUSTRAC Online. Creating an AML Mate account does not enrol your business.

### Can you show me how to use AUSTRAC Online?

Yes. Our six free tutorials walk you through creating an account, enrolling your business, lodging reports and what to do after you lodge. Follow the screenshots at your own pace and click any image to enlarge it. You do not need an AML Mate account to read them.

- [Markdown pages](https://amlmate.com.au/index.md): Every public page in Markdown: append `.md` to its URL (`/index.md` for the home page, `/blog/<slug>.md` for an article), or request the page with `Accept: text/markdown`.

- [robots.txt](https://amlmate.com.au/robots.txt): Crawl policy. AI crawlers are explicitly allowed on the public content.

Every public page listed above also serves Markdown from the SAME URL when you
ask for it. Send `Accept: text/markdown` and you get `text/markdown; charset=utf-8`
instead of HTML; responses carry `Vary: Accept` so a cache cannot mix the two up.
Blog posts return their full original Markdown source this way.

    curl -H "Accept: text/markdown" https://amlmate.com.au/guide/austrac-tranche-2

A path that does not exist returns HTTP 404 with a short Markdown body pointing
back at this index, so a wrong guess is recoverable in one request.
